Get Named When Customers Ask an AI

A customer asks an AI who to use, and it names everyone but us.

SEO & Websites·Intermediate

It stings to watch an AI hand your customer a competitor's name and skip yours, and worse, there is nowhere to log in and find out why. This does not guess at why. You paste in the answer you actually got, the sites it listed, and the paragraph from each of the top three that reads closest to what the answer said, and the work is a straight comparison of those two things: what got squeezed down, what came through almost word for word, what got left out. From that it writes four to eight short blocks of finished writing, each one able to stand alone, in whichever of eight shapes matches the answer you are up against, scores your page out of 100 across nine lines with a piece of evidence beside each, and lays out a fifteen part report you can hand to a client. It is blunt about what it cannot do: it cannot tell you why an AI picked a source, it cannot promise you will ever be quoted, and it will not let you pay for placement or stage discussion to fake mentions. What you are left with is a page that is more specific, more current and easier to lift a clean answer out of than the one being quoted today, plus a plain repeat test so you can tell later whether anything actually changed.

What's Inside

A fill-in worksheet that names exactly what to copy down before you start, including the date and which assistant you used
Asks you for the paragraph from each of the top three listed sites that reads closest to what the answer said
A pass that sets the answer beside those real paragraphs to show what got squeezed, combined, dropped, or carried through word for word
A table for tracking which competitors keep getting named, which of their pages got used, and where their coverage is thin
A table of the eight to twelve narrower questions likely sitting behind the one the customer typed, marked for whether your content answers each
Eight shapes a quotable block can take, with a chart telling you which one to pick based on the answer you are up against
Eight things every block has to do, starting with answering in the first sentence
A score sheet out of 100 across nine lines, each with what full marks, half marks and zero look like
A fifteen part report outline, written out to a dated file, with a rule against adding a predicted-result column
Seven things you must never do, including paying for placement and staging forum discussion, with the reason each one gets accounts or sites punished
Five different plans depending on what you found, from a competitor named over and over to video pages filling the source list
An eleven question final check where any no means stop, not a note for later
A repeat test you run by hand each week, including in a logged-out window, with four specific things to watch

Best For

Freelancers who look after websites for other people's businessesSmall business owners who keep hearing that customers now ask an AI before they searchMarketing consultants who need a written report to put in front of a clientPeople who write web pages and want to know what kind of paragraph actually gets liftedAnyone who has watched an AI recommend a competitor and wants to see what that competitor's page does differently

Before you buy

This skill cannot see anything, so you are the collecting step: you ask the question in the assistant yourself and paste in the whole answer, the list of sites it used, and the closest paragraph from each of the top three, which the file says takes fifteen to forty minutes for one question, and it handles one question per run. Nothing here needs a paid tool, but you do need access to the assistant you care about, and some only show their sources on a paid plan, so check that before you promise a client a comparison. You also need a real page of your own to publish the finished writing on, because the file is clear that blocks published with nothing else around them make a thin page and make things worse.
